Some non-U.S. university hockey for Friday

Reuters reports on the Oxford-Cambridge hockey rivalry, (yes, ice hockey) which some claim is the oldest in the world.

And since I’ve been giving St. Lawrence so much love of late, I’d be remiss if I didn’t note another of my many alma maters headed to the hockey playoffs — Laurier will be facing off against Waterloo in the OUA men’s semifinals, which I’m dubbing the N2L Derby. Meanwhile, the women’s team, who I saw beat OSU in Columbus last fall (that game is one of the pictures in my header), has a two week break before they play in the OUA final four tournament, seeking their fourth straight league title. Way to go, Hawks.

  1. Oxford-Cambridge? If they can’t agree on “Anglo-Saxon”/”Old English” (get a linguist worked up about this some time), I guess they’ll be rivals at everything.
