Bob Gainey

Excellent, and absolutely heart-rending piece by Roy MacGregor about the tragedies that have hit Bob Gainey and his family. And Gainey’s remained a class act through it all.

(MacGregor, by the way, is one of my absolute favorite hockey writers — although he doesn’t cover hockey all that much anymore. He’s the author of the criminally underappreciated and out-of-print Road Games, which ought to be required reading for anyone who wants to understand how the NHL has evolved in the past decade and a half)
