Adam Foote’s desperate plea to Jackets fans: Please don’t boo us!

Panties all over Franklin County and environs are a-knot today over this from Adam Foote in the Dispatch:

“I don’t think they should do that,” Foote said. “This is the first year they’ve had a consistent team, a winning team that’s not getting blown out of games. Maybe they’re frustrated from years past? I don’t know, but I don’t think they should do that.” (. . .) “I can understand the frustration, but this team is fighting hard and we need that backing. I know they pay a big buck, so they can do what they want, but it doesn’t really help when they boo.”

I for one was booing at the end of the second period on Wednesday, and I was booing the refs, not the Jackets. I have booed the Jackets in the past, but wasn’t on Wednesday.

And everybody — Foote, fans, angry blog commenters and message board posters:

  1. Hilarious picture at the end! Great post, Sarah. Personally, if the team isn’t playing well, the fan has every right to boo since he/she is the person putting dollars in the players’ pockets.

Foote needs to understand that there’s nothing he can do but play better. Especially since he’s one of the leaders on the Jackets.
