Training Camp Day Five Photoblog

Stripped down Group A this afternoon, as the roster continues to shrink (by the way, I’m real pleased to hear that John Hughes has been invited to the Crunch camp, because he really seems to have some puckhandling ability). Much of the time I was there they spent on the defensemen getting the puck up to the forwards effectively under pressure. This has been a continued sore spot with the Jackets, so it’s of course good to see it being worked on.

The Nash-Brassard-Huselius line continues to put on display their mad skills. Whether or not the Jackets win enough to get into the playoffs next season, these guys should make the games fun to watch at least.

Boll-Peca-Torres was another line combo used in practice today. It’s one that probably won’t persist as Torres and Peca get healthier, but I actually liked it. It has the potential to be a hard-to-play-against checking line that also pots the odd goal.

I have to say, too, Kris Russell looks bigger this year.
