I’m making a slow post-election return to the land of the living. Not enough yet to actually go to tonight’s game, but I did watch most of it on TV, which is more than I’ve been able to do for the past couple of weeks. After a slow start to the season, the Jackets have started rounding into shape — Brassard and Voracek continue to impress, as has Steve Mason, who has now won two straight since his recall from Syracuse. Tonight they managed to hang on and beat the Montreal Canadiens, who have been one of the better teams in the league thus far. Granted, no Carey Price in net for Montreal tonight, but two points are two points (and giving away the loser point doesn’t matter in this case since it’s against an Eastern team).
Jackets are right back at it tomorrow against Calgary. I’ll be at Columbus Crew Stadium watching a playoff game rather than watching this one in person or on TV, but let’s hope for some continued improvement by the CBJs.
