And the injuries begin

The losing in Minnesota last night went beyond the 2-0 scoreline.

Freddy Modin, who wasn’t particularly injury-prone before coming to Columbus, but has seemingly been on the IR ever since, sustained a knee injury that it appears will take “weeks, not days” to heal. Bad news for him, and puts more pressure on the Voraceks and Filatovs of the world to step up and not leave Rick Nash too singled out as the Jackets’ offense.

Jason Chimera had to be taken to the hospital after being taken into the boards by Eric Belanger. By all accounts of those who were there, it looked pretty scary and serious. Which is why it was good to wake up this morning and see on his agent’s Twitter feed that his CT scan was good and he should be back in Columbus today. No word yet on how long Chimera might be out, but at least it doesn’t appear to have been as serious as it could have been.
