Preseason continues to be cruel to the Blue Jackets

Don’t panic yet….it’s only preseason. In which the Jackets have now fallen to 0-3 following a loss to Nashville. But, looking back over the club’s preseason history in the Training Camp Media Guide, there doesn’t seem to be much correlation between preseason results and the season that followed. Last year, they were .500 in the preseason and made the playoffs. In ’07, they were .500 and missed the playoffs. In 2002, they were 6-3-1 in the preseason and finished the regular season with 69 points. So let’s not write off the year just yet.

However, it would be nice to get through the rest of these games with no more scary injuries. This time it was Tommy Sestito, who hit his head on the ice after being taken down at the end of a fight with Nashville’s much-loathed Jordin Tootoo, and had to be taken to the hospital. Preds on the Glass has video here. The good news is, Sestito appears to be okay.

More cuts coming today. I’d planned my day around going down to watch camp, but they’re not going to be on the ice today. Bummer.
